American’s have been enjoying pizza for over 100 years since the first pizzeria opened in New York City. In these early years coal fired ovens were the cooking method of choice with their high temperatures and distinctive flavoring. But over the course of time, these coal ovens were replaced as electricity and gas became more readily available and soon after unfortunately, these gas and electric ovens became the norm. Next came the mass production of pizza and frozen pizza and a gradual change in how a pizza should taste until we arrived at a place where most pizzas taste the same.

Today, Tommy’s Coal Fired Pizza revives and carries on the “Old World” art of making pizza. Every pizza is baked in a Coal Fired Oven at temperatures up to 1000 degrees, these temperatures produce a flavorful and crispy crust that is unmatched by any other oven.

At Tommy’s Coal Fired Pizza we insist on using only the finest ingredients available because Pizza is our passion and we believe that quality is the key to a great Pizza. At Tommy’s the crust stands firm, the mozzarella melts exquisitely and the basil is wildly fresh. We offer friendly service, in a relaxed environment where families can enjoy great food.

But Tommy’s is more than just pizza. One of the most talked about items at Tommy’s is the Coal Fired roasted wings. Each order of jumbo wings is smothered with oven roasted caramelized onions and cooked to tender perfection in the coal fired oven then topped with Italian hot finger peppers and garlic flat bread.

Tommy’s also offers a selection of Italian favorite dishes all coal fired and served family style including Baked Eggplant Parmigiana, Italian Sausage smothered in Peppers and Onions, Broccoli Rabe Sautéed in Garlic, Penne Pasta, and Meatballs served in our homemade marinara sauce, Calzones and salads.

To complement the meal nothing goes better with pizza and wings than a beverage from our beautiful bar. Tommy’s provides just the right selection of quality craft beers, a wide selection of wines, homemade Sangria, and specialty mixed drinks concocted from quality and premium liquors.

There is a Tommy behind Tommy’s

Tommy Bonfiglio is the man behind the name at Tommy’s Coal Fired Pizza. The restaurant evolved from Tommy pursuing his passion – Pizza the most perfect food ever invented. Growing up in Brooklyn he ate pizza all the time and was always searching for the best tasting pizza. Before opening the first restaurant, Tommy spent more than three years “researching” pizza before deciding he would offer coal fired pizza because it creates an incredible crust and it cooks the ingredients with sensational flavor quickly, without destroying their quality. Once Tommy was convinced he had the perfect combination of ingredients and oven type, he then executed his vision of creating the ultimate casual dining pizza experience. Relying on his Italian heritage and his love for all things Italian, he and his wife Yvette, set out to design “Taverna Rustica” – a rustic style tavern one might find in the hills of Tuscany. Keeping with the tradition of Neapolitan style cooking – simple, quality driven ingredients, they then assembled a menu to compliment the pizza. Tommy stands behind every pie with his passion for pizza that is infectious and infused into every bite and a drive to serve each person the best pizza they’ll ever have!
